When it comes to long-term car rentals, flexibility and customization are key. Whether your customers are looking to rent a vehicle for a few weeks, several months, or even a year, the Duration-Based Rental feature allows you to tailor rental options to meet a wide variety of needs. This setup enables you to offer bookings by the week, month, bi-monthly period, or for a specific number of days, weeks, or months—giving both you and your customers the freedom to define what "long-term" means.
To configure long-term rentals effectively, follow these steps:
1. Create a Rate Rule with a CDP for Long-Term Rental
Start by setting up a rate rule linked to a CDP specifically for long-term rentals. This rate rule will determine pricing logic and eligibility, making it the foundation for your long-term booking setup.
Tip: Ensure the CDP is clearly labeled (e.g., "Monthly Rental CDP") to avoid confusion later.
2. Configuring Durations
Navigate to Dashboard > Bookings
- Check for the Durations section, which is essential for setting length-based pricing and availability.
- If the Duration field is not visible, reach out to support@carcloud.com to have it enabled.

3. Create a New Instant Search Page
After configuring the duration settings:
-
Go to Pages
-
Click Add New Page
-
Choose the Instant Search template
Configure the remaining fields such as:
-
Rate Rule selection
-
Predefined pickup/drop-off locations
-

-

4. Sync to Production and Go Live
Once everything is configured and tested in your staging environment, sync the setup to Production to make it live on your website. This final step ensures that all changes—rate rules, duration settings, and search configurations—are available to your customers.
âś… Tip: Always run a few test bookings in the staging environment to confirm everything works as expected.
