When contacting Carcloud Support and viewing support documentation, you will encounter the terms "Production" and "Staging" in reference to your Carcloud website. Understanding the purpose of each of these is important to ensure successful use of the platform.
Production Site: the production site is your customer facing, live site. Changes to the production site can only be made via the Staging site.
Staging Site: the staging site is where you will make and test changes before pushing them to production. The staging site is accessible from your WordPress Content Management System (CMS) by clicking the link with the small house in the top left hand corner;
The staging site will also launch when the "Preview" button is clicked within the CMS.
The staging site URL format is https://www-yoursitename-com.sites.carcloud.com/
The platform will automatically detect changes made to the staging site and display a prompt to synchronise staging with production;
Always ensure changes are correct and ready for release when synchronising staging with production as this process is final and cannot be rolled back. Where unwanted changes are synced to production, these will need to be manually reversed and the sites re-synchronised.
After syncing has taken place, it can take up to ten minutes for changes to show on the production site. Ensure the browser has been refreshed and cached versions of the site aren't being viewed. Viewing your site via an incognito browser or performing a hard refresh is useful to avoid caching.
